The AMU-1A Anhysteretic Magnetizer is an option to the LDA-3A AF Demagnetizer. This equipment permits the deliberate, controled anhysteretic magnetization of a specimen.
The AMU-1A equipment produces a weak direct magnetic bias field which is, thanks to specially constructed electronic filters, superimposed upon the stronger alternating magnetic field generated in the LDA-3A Demagnetizer. Both fields are coaxial and affect the specimen simultaneously.
The equipment is useful in rock magnetism and environmental studies. A significant use is to determine the anisotropy of remanence, in conjunction with any instrument for measuring remanent magnetization (for example the JR-6A Spinner Magnetometer produced by AGICO).
